Not so long ago, a survey report states that over 50% of business owner in the Philippines outsource some of their business functions to ensure productivity and continuity. Most of the tasks outsourced by these business owners range from Human relations, accounting functions, admin functions, to book keeping, and marketing. As a matter of fact, any function at all that could bring about the progress of a business can be outsourced.

Seeing that it is an established fact that business owners consider outsourcing their business functions and that many other business owner are keying in to the trend, it is important to know the basics of what outsourcing is all about. This is particularly important for business owners who might be considering outsourcing their business functions for the first time.

SOME QUESTIONS TO ASK BEFORE OUTSOURCING BUSINESS FUNCTIONS

Typically, there are series of meetings held between the board members of the business and the outsourcing company. The aim of the meeting is to outline the blueprint of the contract. Here are some questions that would help any business owner make decisions that are best for his company before hiring an outsource service provider.

1. HOW EXPERIENCED AND KNOWLEDGEABLE ARE YOU?

A business owner should always be on the lookout for what and whoever that can improve the state of his or her business. A person with some experience and education about the task to be outsourced would be of a great advantage as there is reduced rate of risk. The outsourced service providers are expected to share their profile and portfolios, their landmark and accomplishments.

2. WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR MY COMPANY?

At this stage, the business board members are expected to state what their problem is and then listen to the outsourced service provider enlighten them on how best to address those issues. The suggested solutions should be feasible and acceptable to the board.

3. HOW ARE YOU GOING TO DO THIS?

Here, the employer should look out for top notch skills, qualifications, and trending methods. The outsourced service providers should be able to bring in value to the business with their skills for the money they are being paid. The terms and conditions for this contract should be laid bare for both parties to access and make informed decisions. These terms and conditions of service are important to avoid any hitches and breaches during the contract.

4. WHAT ARE YOUR SECURITY MEASURES?

At this level, both parties should consider unforeseen circumstances that may arise in the course of the contract. Security measures should be laid down on how best to handle issues like this should they arise.

5. WHAT IS THE COST?

Finally, but not the least, the employer should consider the budget for the contract. Usually, outsourcing business functions is cheaper than hiring a staff to do the job, but if for any reason it is costlier, the board should maybe consider otherwise, or at least cut down on outsourcing frivolous tasks.
