Entrepreneurs who have learned the power of blogging and content marketing are ditching paid ads. While this may take a longer time to blossom and start yielding the desired result, it is all worth it. But first, there are certain strategies that would guarantee success in using blogging to market your business.

1: Spell Out Who You are Targeting and How to Convert Your Targets to Customers

In fact, before even creating content, you must identify your readers, so that you can create the right content for them. No matter how well-polished and sophisticated your content is, it won’t be exciting to the wrong audience. Remember, the focus is on your audience and not what interests you.

For instance, if you sell food spices, it is most likely your customers would want to learn how to combine different recipes for different dishes. Including such recipes and tips would attract them more than tips on how to store food spices.

You also need to convert your audience to customers. In this case, your website should feature conspicuous pathways to the product you offer. A robust customer service team, ready-at-all-times, will help convert hot leads to real customers.

2: Engage Suitable Search Engine Optimization Keywords

Search engine ranking is one of the best and organic ways to be seen by your audience. Right now, daily searches on Google have hit six billion! This is why you need to focus on search engine optimized keywords. It all starts with the root keywords. These are keywords closest to your product and/or brand.

You will also need the long-tail keywords, but it is good to cull them from your root keywords. The long-tail keywords should feature up to three or slightly more words. They are less competitive and as a result, have good chances of ranking high. Besides, visitors who use such search terms are often ready to buy. For instance, a visitor searching for “best spices for fried rice” is more likely to purchase than the individual searching for just “food spices”.

You should take advantage of more advanced keyword research tools to find the most suitable and less competitive long-tail keywords. Such tools can reveal the volume of searches on related long-tail keywords, the competition level, and even the websites ranking for such terms currently.

3: Use Long Form Content to Build Authority While Focusing on Your Website

Often, newbie bloggers think it is best to start off building authority on social media, or embark on guest blogging. While those platforms are helpful, the best place to focus is your website. You are in control of your website, which makes it the best place to build the foundation of content. What happens when the guest blogging platforms decide to stop, just like the case of Huffington Post? All your labor will go to waste.

Finally, outsource blogging to an expert in your niche if you do not have a knack for such a creative and laborious task.
