If you don’t already have an account, it’s easy to set up. Set up your profile and complete it 100%. Skipping steps could cost you a worthwhile connection. A wizard will prompt you every step of the way, so if you can follow directions, it’s handled.

Why do we market our businesses? We want to get the word out so that we can sell products and services, right? But there’s one thing more important than those initial sales; online or otherwise. Do you know what it is?

Before I give you the answer, I want to emphasize that without it, business ventures will be short lived, if not doomed to failure altogether. This ingredient is critical to a recipe for success.

The most critical element to business success is a data base; a list.

Building a following is vital to the foundation of success and unless we focus on it from the very beginning, our businesses risk being negatively impacted financially. What does LinkedIn have to do with this?

LinkedIn is an excellent resource for list building. A specific product will make it easy, but it’s going to cost you. For $50 a year you can utilize this resource, and depending on what you’re selling and your price point, you could make that back many times over on the very first sale.

Accumulating a list of contacts will allow you to sell more often to more people. If you utilize a sales funnel appropriately, you’ll be able to maximize your efforts by cementing relationships and deepening engagement. The more solid your relationships, the more likely you’ll be to make money over a period of time.

  1. LinkedIn in my opinion is important. It has a great Google ranking. If you are on LinkedIn and clients want to research how valuable you are, they would most likely type in your name to Google. LinkedIn usually is the first 3 search results you would see. If you build a credible profile on LinkedIn, it becomes an automatic good word of mouth for you or your business.
